He and his wife Melissa have been proud residents of Wyckoff since 2009. “Wyckoff has been a special place for our family,” says Tim. He feels a deep sense of responsibility to give back to a township that has given so much to his family. Tim is committed to continuing the work he has begun, building and promoting the community of Wyckoff while effectively managing the ever-changing landscape of local government.

Tim is an attorney at Davis, Saperstein, and Salomon, a past recreation coach in Wyckoff, and an active member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Elizabeth’s Church, where he and his family are parishioners.

As the 2020 Mayor, Shanley successfully led the township through its first-ever global pandemic, earning county-wide recognition for his weekly updates on progress and measures to protect families. Timothy Shanley’s accomplishments include leading the Annual Fireworks event, overseeing the construction of Turf Fields at Memorial Field, and coordinating efforts to manage development at Maple Lake with Open Space Funds. Serving on the Township Committee since 2017, Tim has held various key positions, such as Fire Commissioner, Police Commissioner, Planning Board, Recreation Board, RIH Board liaison, Design Review Board, Library Board and Zoning Board. In all these roles he has served, demonstrating a commitment to transparency and community welfare.

If reelected, Tim has established several key goals: Sound Financial Planning: Tim is committed to requesting participation in the budget committee to implement long-term planning aimed at stabilizing taxes. He believes that major expenses should be easily identifiable, ensuring that the proper funding is in place to address them. Tim is dedicated to maintaining stable taxes, ensuring that homeowners are not surprised by sudden increases.

Transparency and Professionalism in the Township Committee: Tim is committed to encouraging the committee to inform the public about significant decisions and to foster open discussion. “We need to make it easy for people to understand critical issues like the municipal budget, so they can make informed decisions,” says Tim. He has always been committed to listening to all sides of an issue and wants to ensure that his behavior as a Township Committee member reflects treating every member of the community with respect.

Advocacy for Wyckoff: Tim supports the numerous programs sponsored by the township, including youth sports and significant events like Memorial Day and 9/11. He recognizes that Wyckoff’s senior population continues to grow and believes there needs to be a greater focus on offering opportunities for township- sponsored programs for this important part of the community.

Tim is running alongside Drita and Chris because, as he puts it, “they too have decades of community service and involvement quietly serving Wyckoff. They are as committed as I am to working as a unified team in the service of what is best for Wyckoff.” Tim agrees with his running mates that Wyckoff values good neighbors, treating everyone with respect, and maintaining a well-functioning municipal government.

“As a husband, father, coach, attorney, and more, I feel a personal sense of responsibility to Wyckoff. My service is all about Wyckoff.” This is Tim’s commitment to the township and why he is running for reelection.

Tim Shanley is seeking reelection for the three-year term on the Wyckoff Township Committee.
