Christopher Joachim is running for the two-year seat on the Wyckoff Township Committee with a deep commitment to his community. Born and raised in Wyckoff, Chris is dedicated to ensuring that it remains a wonderful place to live, not just for his own family, but for generations to come.
“My roots in this town run deep,” Chris says proudly. “My grandparents have called Wyckoff home since 1955, and over the years, our family has grown alongside this community. Now, with my wife Stacey and our two sons, Nicholas and Robert, I am proud to continue raising my family in the same place that has meant so much to us for generations.”
Chris has served Wyckoff in various capacities, from being the youngest battalion chief at 25 to his current roles as Vice President of the Northwest Bergen Mutual Aid and a 17-year member of the Wyckoff Fire Department. He also serves on the Wyckoff Board of Adjustment and has chaired the Wyckoff Fire Department’s Taste of Wyckoff event, which has not only brought the community together but has also supported local businesses.
If elected, Chris envisions a Wyckoff that values respect, transparency, unity, safety, community growth, and generational change. Chris will work every day to provide: Values and Transparency: Chris is committed to conducting himself and all township business with the values that define Wyckoff. “Treating each other with respect, lending a hand to those in need, and setting a positive example for my children and family are top priorities for me,” he says.
He also pledges to ensure transparency in all township work, presenting major decisions such as budgets in a simple format for all to understand.
Financial Management: Understanding the importance of balancing investment and expenses, Chris is committed to improving planning to reduce the need for increased debt in the township, which has seen a significant rise in the past seven years.
Deliver Municipal Services: Chris believes in delivering high-quality township services efficiently and effectively. He aims to ensure that these services evolve with the times, remain accessible, and meet the needs of all residents. Additionally, he is dedicated to maintaining strong recreation offerings for younger residents and increasing senior engagement in township-sponsored programs.
“Change can be intimidating, but it’s also necessary for growth,” Chris emphasizes. “Throughout my career, particularly in the fire service, I’ve learned that embracing change is how we better ourselves and our community.”
For Chris, running for office is not about political parties; it’s about respecting the people of Wyckoff and the values that make this community so special. That’s why he’s running for this office.
