Drita McNamara is running for a 3-year term on the Wyckoff Township Committee, for the town she’s called home for over 28 years. As a first-generation American, raised in Hackensack, Wyckoff holds a special place in her heart. It’s where she raised her family, formed lifelong friendships, and actively participated in the community.
Drita’s educational background includes graduating from Paramus Catholic High School, attending Arcadia University near Philadelphia, and earning an MBA in Marketing with a minor in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Her son, Drew, is currently a Wyckoff Volunteer Firefighter and a junior at Sacred Heart University.
Drita’s involvement in politics spans local, county, and state levels since the early ’90s. She was first elected to the Wyckoff Republican County Committee for District 7 in 1999 and led the group in 2008. In 2019, she took on a leadership role for District 40, covering Bergen, Passaic, and Essex Counties. Additionally, Drita has served on the Wyckoff Planning Board for over nine years, addressing crucial issues such as low-income and special needs housing, as well as proposals for major developments like ShopRite. Her service also includes three years on the Wyckoff Environmental Committee and four years on the Architectural Design Review Committee.
“Through my years of experience, I have learned that people desire three main things from their municipal government: stable taxes, safe streets, and good municipal services.” Drita is committed to ensuring that we consistently provide these essentials to Wyckoff residents by: Being Focused on Finances: The township committee should manage your taxes dollars like you manage your own budget. Looking to save wherever possible and planning for large expenses that are essential. We can do this through better, proactive budget planning which will lead to stable taxes.
Being a strong advocate for Wyckoff: Drita will advocate for robust programs benefiting our Youth to our underserved Seniors. She also believes in public private partnerships between Wyckoff’s own organizations and businesses because together we can do more for less for the citizens of Wyckoff.
Being transparent: The public needs to understand how decisions are made and Drita is committed to holding public information sessions before significant decisions are made and ensuring strong communication among township committee members, prioritizing the community’s interests over individual agendas.
Drita has a proven track record as a listener and problem solver. She was recognized by her fellow Republicans in Bergen County as the 2022 Outstanding Republican Woman of the Year and has received awards in her career for her exceptional customer service. Drita is committed to long-term public service, staying engaged well beyond election cycles.
Drita is running with Tim and Chris because, as she puts it, “Our commitment to running as a team and leading together is rooted in our deep connection to our families and our community. We understand the value of good neighbors, treating everyone with respect, and maintaining a well-functioning municipal government.”
